IN THE WEDDING CLOTHES

Brocades and silks
Are party wear;
Bows, shoes and frills
The Sunday-best gear.

They go down well
In the society of men,
Win nods of approval
And never disdain.

Though, before Him
Our finest deeds
Fall short as rags;
Our shame exceeds.

So, let’s be found in
The best of robes –
The fine linen of white,
Of His righteousness.

To present ourselves
In the Wedding Clothes,
Before the King of kings
And Lord of lords.
