GOD’S TRADESMEN

When He gives forth
Gifts of true worth,
Man perceives not
Of that he freely got.

For life, just as air
Abounds, and is not rare,
Until they stop
Against all hope!

God’s talents –
Are heaven’s riches,
For trade and glory
By the trustworthy.

They are gifts priceless,
In number, more or less.
So is His gift of life,
The one of talents five.

It gives one identity
To write in eternity,
When in heaven’s fruitful trade
The pinch of lack will fade.

So, those found faithful
Having reaped a bountiful,
Whether in talents’ increase
Or armload of sheaves.

Are honored like princes,
As rulers and judges –
With Him on thrones to reign,
Restored to twice the gain.
