GOD’S POSTMEN

Who had understood
The lament of Jeremiah?
And who ever listened
To the sermon of Noah?
Who heeded the voice
From the wilderness, warn?
The prophets, His messengers
All subjected to scorn!

To them, His Word –
Was sweeter than honey,
Scorched the heart
Like fields on days sunny.
For His Word is a Lamp
Meant to light up a city.
So proclaim, they did,
Against all adversity.

Having heard the Lord,
“Who will go for Us?  Whom send?”
Tho’ unfit to race e’en men
With horses willed to contend.
For they understand
The heart of God,
Warns, before judgement
Sweeps down like sword.
