THE CURSE OF PRIDE
Whilst the curse of womanhood is the cursed submission to her male counterpart, the curse of manhood is the cursed and blinding pride in his assumed superiority.
This is true of all races, nations and peoples. Why? Because it is the cursed legacy handed down by mankind’s first father which he acquired presumptuously at first (Gen 2:23) and licentiously afterwards it may seem by misusing the curse which fell on the woman (Gen 3:16).
No sooner was the first male created and acquired great wealth of knowledge, including the knowledge of the Gospel, his pride had begun to show. Instead of humbling himself before God and persevering in the revelations he had received, he became instantly proud, boastful and nonchalant. Read Gen 2:23 for example.
So much so that, his imminent fall, when it occurred, failed to open his eyes and bring about the desired humility. On the contrary, he became unrepentant and rebellious. As a result, his pride only grew to monstrous proportions.
And with his pride multiplied the alienation of all mankind after him!
First it was the alienation by gender. Then, by his own sons! Consequently, today, as we see it clearly manifested, all mankind stand alienated one from the other as with God, whether in one’s own family or outside. Each vying with the other for supremacy, whatever the pretext! Be it color, wealth, beauty, language, race, nationality, tribe, clan, caste, religion, tradition, region, customs, food-habits, clothing, pronunciation and what have you!
Therefore, as the Word of God testifies it is but a matter of time before ‘the kingdom of mankind’ will itself fall never to rise again.
Whether it is the woman’s cursed submission to fellow-man or the man’s cursed notion of superiority, THE OUTCOME ON THE TWO ARE ONE AND THE SAME. They remain alienated from God and from one another.
As a servant of God I find it next to impossible to penetrate through these barriers hoping that I may at least make them listen to the Word of God. Because, while the men in their haughtiness respond by taking serious offense, women, basking in their ‘virtuous’ submission or so it may seem to their ‘so appeased male-counterparts’ turn even more haughtier and completely ignore my earnest appeal to their senses.
Exactly as it was during Jeremiah’s time, for instance! Refer Jer 18:18. Or as it continues to be even during these end-times, refer 2 Tim 3:6-7, “They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.”
Therefore this is what the Spirit testifies, “Woe to the ‘CITY OF OPPRESSORS’, rebellious and defiled! She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God. Her officials are roaring lions, her rulers are evening wolves, who leave nothing for the morning. Her prophets are arrogant; they are treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary and do violence to the Law.”
Even though, God, in His faithfulness, continues to sustain the wicked and righteous alike both by continuing to preserve the world and by continuing to send His Word to them: “The Lord within her is Righteous; He does no wrong. Morning by morning He dispenses His justice, and every new day He does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame.”
They neither see nor understand that His Judgment is close at hand: “I have cut off nations; their strongholds are demolished, I have left their streets deserted, with no one passing through. Their cities are destroyed; NO ONE WILL BE LEFT – NO ONE AT ALL. I said to the city, ‘Surely you will fear Me and accept correction!’ Then her dwelling would not be cut off, nor all My punishments come upon her. But they were still eager to act corruptly in all they did.”
Only a remnant from them will remain and return to God – all who have put their hope in the Lord and trust Him – again thanks to His faithfulness for He reassures them: “ ‘Therefore, wait for Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘for the Day I will stand up to testify. I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out My wrath on them – all My fierce anger. The whole world will be consumed by the fire of My jealous anger. Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the Name of the Lord and serve Him shoulder to shoulder……………because I will remove from this city those who rejoice in their PRIDE. Never again WILL YOU BE HAUGHTY on My holy hill. But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the Name of the Lord. The remnant of Israel (meaning God’s people) will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid.’ ”
The ‘CITY OF THE REMNANT’, set apart from the unholy ‘City of the Oppressors’, will be called the Daughter of Zion, the Daughter of Jerusalem!
Because she did not look to her oppressors but only trusted in the Name of the Lord, the Lord will receive her with great love and rejoicing. “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. The sorrows for the appointed feasts I will remove from you; they are a burden and a reproach to you. AT THAT TIME I WILL DEAL WITH ALL WHO OPPRESSED YOU. I will rescue the lame and gather those who have been scattered. I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame. At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you Home. I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your very eyes,” says the Lord. (For all above unreferenced verses, refer Zeph 3, Rev 19:19-21, Rev 20:7-10, Rev 21:1-8.)
If only people would turn to God and repent of their wickedness! If only men would understand that the Lord “…rebukes the arrogant, who are CURSED and who stray from (His) commands.” (Ps 119:21)! And if only the women would understand how they mislead themselves and every generation entrusted to them: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord.” (Jer 17:5)!
Meantime, I can only hope. I can only pray. And I can only continue to minister His infallible Word faithfully!
